Environment - dust, pollen and other
allergens affect us and can cause reactions.
One of the most dangerous pollutants is OZONE. We
all see the high ozone warnings given during the weather
forecast and notice the "HIGH OZONE" day
when we can ride for free on the bus. That is because
ozone is dangerous stuff.
But don't take my word for it. Experts say ozone
generators can be harmful and most people who buy
them do not know the danger they are bringing into
their home. Andrew Cuddihy from the American
Lung Association says ozone generators can be harmful...
just a little bit of ozone can cause health problems,
including chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath,
and even permanent lung damage... 0.05 ppmv
is the FDA's ceiling limit on ozone concentration
in occupied spaces.
This danger may be in your home: many of the popular
air filters (air "purifiers") generate ozone
as part of their normal function. Because of this
hazard they carry a warning not to use them in "confined
areas."
Check the packaging if you are about to purchase
an "ozone" generator.
There
are a few safe air purifiers that are ozone free.
Good Water is also important.
